William Mulrow: Awards and Activities

William Mulrow has received several awards for his civic leadership and work within the community. In 1999, he was granted the North American Boards of Rabbis, Humanitarian Award. Prior to that, he received the Award for Civic Leadership from Whitney Radio. Mulrow has also participated in a multitude of volunteer activities. He is a former member of the PENCIL Advisory Board, and served as a board member for HELP USA from 1998-2001.

Although Mulrow spends the majority of his time working in the financial sector, he still manages to make time to read historical biographies, travel and follow local sports teams.                    

William Mulrow: Board Experience

Beyond his business activities, William Mulrow has also served as a member or chairman on a plethora of boards. Having been appointed by the Governor of New York, he currently acts as the Chairman of two agencies under the New York State Homes and Community Renewal.  Mulrow also presides as Chairman of the Board of Sterling Suffolk Racecourse, a thoroughbred racetrack based in New England. Previously, Mulrow was a board member of Hudson Valley Bank and an advisory board member to Millbrook Capital.  Mulrow has also held several other government-appointed positions for the State of New York and, in particular, Westchester County.


William Mulrow: Before Blackstone

Before working as a Senior Managing Director with Blackstone, William Mulrow held a multitude of high-profile positions. Immediately prior to working for Blackstone, Mulrow acted as a senior executive for both Citigroup Global Capital Markets and Paladin Capital Group. He was the head of new product development for Gabelli Asset Management. Mulrow also served as a Managing Director of corporate finance for Rothschild Inc. For 13 years (1982 - 1995) he acted as a Managing Director of public finance banking at Donaldson Lufkin & Jenrette Securities.

Possessing extensive experience working within various financial markets, Mulrow has applied his expertise toward ventures in business, government and politics. A graduate of both Yale and Harvard, Mulrow currently presides as a Senior Managing Director for Blackstone. Mulrow was also selected by Governor Cuomo to act as the Chairman of the New York State Housing Finance Agency and the State of New York Mortgage Agency. His appointment was confirmed by New York's State Senate unanimously.

William Mulrow Biography


From his roots at Yale and Harvard University, William Mulrow has forged a more than 30-year career in business, politics and government. Mulrow possesses experience in a wide variety of fields, including asset management, investment banking and public and corporate finance. He’s also served on multiple corporate and government boards, on both the state and federal levels.

Mulrow currently presides as a Senior Managing Director at Blackstone. A premier global investment and advisory firm, Blackstone is the largest alternative asset management firm in the world. At Blackstone, Mulrow is involved in raising capital for the company's private investment funds. He also works with Blackstone entities that intersect with organized labor and the public sector.

Prior to working for Blackstone, William Mulrow was a Managing Director at Paladin Capital Group and a Director for Citigroup Global Capital Markets. He also headed up the New Product Development team at Gabelli Asset Management and acted as a Managing Director of corporate finance at Rothschild Inc.

Mulrow also possesses a myriad of board-level experience. Most notably, he was recently appointed by Governor Cuomo to act as the Chairman of the New York State Housing Finance Agency and the State of New York Mortgage Agency, both of which are included within New York State Homes and Community Renewal.

In his spare time, William Mulrow enjoys spending time with his family, reading historical biographies and traveling. He recently visited Rome, Florence, Capri and Paris and has his sights set on traveling to more destinations in the near future.
